Pre-Budget Submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance
Canada is now a “super-aged” nation, with more than one in five people over the age of 65. In this policy submission for Budget 2026, the National Institute on Ageing outlines the growing challenges facing older Canadians, including social isolation, financial insecurity, barriers to health and home care, and widespread ageism. Drawing on findings from the 2025 Ageing in Canada Survey, the submission highlights the urgent need for federal action to help older adults age with dignity, security, and confidence, while also recognizing early progress through initiatives such as the Canadian Dental Care Program.
