Improving Influenza Vaccination Uptake Among Older Canadians-Webinar
As influenza season gets underway, improving vaccination rates among older Canadians remains an urgent public health priority.
Canada has long set a national target to vaccinate at least 80% of adults aged 65 and older against influenza, given that they have long represented 90% of Canada’s nearly 8,000 annual deaths from influenza and pneumonia. Yet last season, only 64% of older Canadians reported receiving the influenza vaccine, falling well short of this goal. Despite the availability of more effective vaccines for older adults, Canada’s vaccination rate remains a concern.
Join the National Institute on Ageing (NIA) for a special webinar featuring the UK’s Professor Dame Jenny Harries in conversation with Canadian Geriatrician and Clinician Scientist and the NIA’s Director of Health Policy Research Dr. Samir Sinha.
Drawing on international experience, including lessons from the UK, they will explore how Canada can improve the procurement, distribution and uptake of influenza vaccines among older adults.
This webinar is sponsored by CSL Seqirus. All of the research and recommendations are independently developed by the NIA on the basis of sound evidence.
